Alberta added a record 1,226 physicians in the past year, bringing the total to 14,156 fully registered doctors as of June 30. The government cites increased physician recruitment, training, and compensation spending, including a 2026-27 budget of $7.7 billion and a $172.3-million raise in physician compensation, as part of efforts to improve access to care.
