Not an official source
canadanewsroom.ca is independent and is not affiliated with government. The original federal, provincial or Prime Minister’s Office page is the authoritative source for an official release. A release may be corrected, replaced, delayed, or removed after it is indexed here.
Coverage is not exhaustive
Related reporting is discovered through third-party search indexes. Paywalls, robots rules, indexing delays, rate limits, language detection, changed URLs, and provider outages can prevent relevant articles from appearing. A count of zero means no qualifying article was found during the latest scan—not that no reporting exists.
Counts are discovery metrics
“Related articles,” “publishers,” and “regions” describe items found by the monitor. They are not audience size, page views, public sentiment, editorial importance, or a complete measure of media attention. Publisher location is not necessarily the location of the reported event or its readers.
Summaries and classifications
Summaries may be generated or adapted from publisher-provided excerpts. Topic, language, location, ownership, similarity, and story-family labels use automated systems and incomplete public metadata. Low-confidence topic classifications are withheld from topic pages and personalization. Story-family similarity is a discovery aid, not proof that two publishers performed independent reporting.
Images
Government release pages use a content-specific image from the official release page only when one can be identified. When no approved source image is available, the record remains image-neutral. Images from media publishers appear only with that publisher’s related article. Automated selection can still be wrong, and image and publisher rights remain with their respective owners.
Timing
Official feeds and the public index are eligible to refresh every three hours on weekdays and pause on weekends. The broader related-coverage scan runs once each weekday; reader-requested checks may use currently available discovery sources between scheduled scans. Cache behavior, provider availability, and processing time may make an individual page older than those intervals. Displayed check times should be read together with the original source’s publication time.
Corrections
If a page misidentifies a publisher, article, image, location, or summary, use the contact page or email support@canadanewsroom.ca and include the affected URL. We will review substantiated correction and removal requests.
