A coroner’s inquest has been scheduled to examine the circumstances surrounding the death of Chase de Balinhard.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, the westbound Highway 1 off-ramps to Fraser Highway and Mount Lehman Road will be closed until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Preliminary reporting by the BC Coroners Service (BCCS) shows that 113 people died in July, and 126 people in August 2026, due to unregulated drug toxicity.
Drivers, residents and local businesses are advised that the closure on Allenby Road, from just past Boys Road to Miller Road in Duncan, has been extended until spring 2027.
