Today, the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario marked another major milestone in delivering affordable and reliable public transit in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Ground has been broken on Lawrence and McCowan Station, the second of three new stations for the Scarborough Subway Extension.
Parliamentary Secretary and Member of Parliament David Myles, Minister Luke Randall, and Mayor of the City of Fredericton, Steve Hicks, announced a federal investment of more than $9.4 million, a provincial contribution of more than $7.8 million, and a municipal investment of more than $6.3 million through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund (CHIF) to extend water, stormwater, and sewer infrastructure into Fredericton’s newest neighbourhood to build more homes, faster.
More than $152 million is being invested in 54 new infrastructure projects across British Columbia through the Strategic Priorities Fund. This federally funded program supports infrastructure projects that are beyond the financial capacity of a single local government, under the Build Communities Strong Fund (BCSF) Community stream in B.C.
