Article Framing Analysis
A transparent, article-level account of what a story emphasizes, whose voices it sources, what context it adds or omits, and how independently it tests official claims. It does not assign political, ideological, bias, factuality, intent, or publisher scores.
What the analysis considers
The system examines the headline, available article body or excerpt, emphasis, language and word choice, source mix, attribution, sourced voices, added or omitted context, scrutiny, and independence from the official release. The release is treated as a set of claims—not as neutral truth.
What readers see
Reader-facing results show observable evidence, confidence, evidence quality, comparison with the official source, assessment date, review state, limitations, and a correction path. Political-spectrum and outlet-bias scoring are not produced for readers or internal review.
Evidence and confidence
Evidence quality describes how much source material was available. Confidence describes how securely the observed evidence supports the written assessment. Headline-only or excerpt-only analyses are always marked low confidence and limited evidence.
Important limitations
- Framing is not the same as truth, accuracy, intent, ideology, or partisan affiliation.
- Different emphasis can be legitimate when supported by the underlying evidence.
- Automated analysis can miss irony, local context, paywalled material, images, charts, or later corrections.
- Absence from an article may reflect scope or length rather than deliberate omission.
- Readers should open the original article and use this assessment as a starting point, not a final judgment.
Review and corrections
Supporters can flag an assessment. Administrators can review the evidence, adjust confidence, edit the explanation, regenerate the analysis, or hide it. Substantive reviews are timestamped. Saved analysis snapshots remain dated and versioned so later editorial changes do not silently rewrite a reader's research record.
