The Transportation Minister, Barry Petten, described the Trans-Canada Highway traffic chaos near the Foxtrap access road as regrettable but understandable due to safety measures taken by road workers. He characterized the incident as a learning experience stemming from those safety precautions.

The RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador Emergency Response Team and Explosives Disposal Unit will conduct training in the Foxtrap Access Road area of Conception Bay South on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no risk to public safety and the Foxtrap Access Road will remain open to traffic during the training.
